One last gillnet opening??

There's a Fishery Notice for another Area 4 Skeena gillnet opening posted for Monday. Hopefully, this will be the last one of this season...or it should be...in our opinion. The gillnetters have enjoyed a more than satisfactory season due to the unexpectedly high return of sockeye....especially considering they didnt think any fishing was going to happen this season. So time for DFO to step up and recognize the steelhead and depressed wild salmon stocks need protecting. We know industry will clamour for continued fishing as they always do and in a strange twist if DFO decide to err on the side of conservation this season, we should be prepared to applaud and support those efforts. How many more openings after Monday will show where DFO's intentions lie.

This week can be very critical for the Steelhead. We should all watch the events of the week closely and start communicating if we don't like what we see.

I hope things will be different this year!

What is the story with the test fishery...its been 4 plus days since the results have been posted? Am I seeing very low "In Season Numbers" and are they correct on the Tyee website? If these numbers are correct...it doesn't look good for the fish?

Tyee has been behind by 2 days all season, if theres a further delay lately it could be due to out long weekend...yesterday was BC Day.
The seinte catch numbers havent been posted at all due to a communication snafu with the dockside verifier apparently.
The Tyee daily numbers look 'average'
