Steelhead Summit, Tukwila, WA

For the folks interested in steelhead down south this announcement might be of interest.

Steelhead Summit!
Saturday, November 15th Foster Golf Links, Tukwila, WA
Hosted by the Steelhead Summit Alliance in conjunction with the Wild Steelhead Coalition (Photo Courtesy of Jeff Bright,www.jeffbright.com)
The Steelhead Summit is a regular gathering of concerned anglers and other citizens meeting to discuss current issues facing steelhead throughout their range in the
Pacific NW and California.
Jointly these steelhead advocates make up the Steelhead Summit Alliance which
works together for the protection and restoration of native, wild steelhead.
This Summit is going to be a “working meeting.” We will catalogue, evaluate and
try to arrive at a consensus on proposals to submit for the upcoming WDFW “Major
Rules Cycle” in the Spring of 2009. This is a major opportunity for us to start to
shepherd the implementation of the WA Statewide Steelhead Management Plan.
We are requesting a $25 donation to help cover our costs, including a box lunch for
each attendee. Please pay through Paypal on the WSC website or by check to: 218
Main St., Box 264, Kirkland, WA, 98033. If you are unable to attend, but would like
to offer your support, we welcome your donation as well.
For more information contact Marianne Mitchell, Steelhead Summit Alliance Chair,

Hi,

Now we must discuss about ongoing draft of Angling Manamenet Plan.

It's the END of OUR steelhead fishing in the area.

Angling management plan looks good if reduces crowding and gives locals better oppurtunities. I caught my first steelhead 40 years ago on the copper. My dad and got a load of wood and steelie each.Nobody around for miles.
Went there this year to get a load of firewood and catch a steelhead. Crew from down south camped there with at least two pickup loads of firewood.
They were there for two weeks. Happens every year now.
Many locals dont bother going out anymore.
I believe non residents should be happy they had easy access to a world class fishery for this long.
Non residents should all be guided. period.
