FLNRO Steelhead Update To Sept.09,2011





The Tyee Test Index to the September 8th is 130, 60% of last year’s index to the same date and above the all years’ average (average all years since 1956 = 101; range: 33 (1957) to 246 (1998)).
The Upper Sustut River Enumeration Weir was installed and began fishing on July 31st. Four hundred and twenty-three steelhead have been captured to date, greater than average and 89% of last year’s census to the same date (average all years since 1994 = 309; range: 61 (1999) to 708 (2004)).
As of August 24th, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans estimate the Skeena sockeye aggregate escapement past Tyee to be 1.48 million.
